GBH Joins PMFA
Jon Abbott, President & CEO of GBH, offered the following about why they decided to participate.
“As we move forward in our renewed commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and dignity, GBH is striving to make concrete, systemic, structural change in our organization and in our work. We have undertaken efforts that reflect the values and purpose of GBH, rooted in the mission of public media to reflect and represent the communities we serve. In that spirit, GBH has joined Public Media for All in support of its efforts to raise awareness and share solutions for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in public media. Its stated Action Items align with our own goals, and provide a framework for accountability moving forward with the critical work we all must do in service to our audiences. We are taking this step because we are eager to be part of a group of colleagues and peers who can learn from one another and inform our planning and progress. We welcome participating in such a community of practice and hope that as Public Media for All grows it creates even more opportunity to advance our work and embrace new solutions. “
DEI Lessons Beyond The Bubble
This fantastic webinar was an opportunity to look to beyond public media to hear new perspectives and learn about fresh solutions. If you missed a chance to participate live in this conversation, the recording is now available to watch and share!
Public Media For All is proud to share insights from Terra Gray, Principal Transformation Consultant at Equitable Dinners Design Team, and Anzio Williams, Senior Vice President of Diversity Equity and Inclusion at NBC Universal Local. Terra Gray and Anzio Williams will share how they are implementing diversity, equity and inclusion in their work.
Many webinar attendees had questions about the educational series with Terra Gray’s organization, the Institute for Equity Activism. She kindly provided the following information:
“Over the course of six modules, participants will build a common vocabulary around racial equity and learn the history of both systemic racial oppression and successful communal efforts to disrupt it. The institute will also build the skills to create mutually beneficial partnerships, facilitate difficult and transformative conversations, and the ability to use story and the arts as a catalyst for social justice. After completing the six modules, participants will design and implement a capstone project in their community.
Participants enroll on a pay-as-you-can basis. Please see our registration page for more information. Whether you can pay or not, all are welcome. “

VPR & Vermont PBS Join PMFA
Scott Finn, President & CEO of VPR, offered the following about why they decided to participate.
"This invitation to join Public Media for All could not come for a better time for VPR and Vermont PBS, as we merge into one organization this year.
Our mission and vision work is still in progress, but after listening to many diverse groups I can share one overriding theme: the desire for this new organization to be more inclusive, to live up to our promise to serve ALL people. To be a place that tells all our stories and where everyone belongs.
Our hope is that by joining Public Media for All, we can join with other organizations who are committed to this mission, and hold ourselves and each other accountable."
